With Obi-Wan traveling off Tatooine, Luke won't be around most of the Jedi's action. It's still unknown how large Luke's role will actually be in Obi-Wan Kenobi, though it appears to be rather small in the grand scheme of the story. He was able to have a hand in bringing Luke to life in The Mandalorian, as well as The Book of Boba Fett, but this time, he'll have to hand the entire role over to Feely. This endorsement from Hamill is meaningful considering how closely linked he is to the character. There have been a handful of actors who have portrayed Luke Skywalker over the years, though Feely is the first to canonically do it in live-action, with the exception of de-aged CG versions and the infant who took his place in Revenge of the Sith. He told Feely that he was chosen for a reason, and jokingly added that he's " much too handsome for the part." See Hamill's encouraging words and photos below: In a touching response to Hamill's original endorsement of the actor, Feely responded saying that he was " honored" and he " hopes to make proud." Hamill quoted the reply with even more words of encouragement and placed a photo of Feely alongside a picture of his younger self along with words of praise. Now, Mark Hamill himself has dedicated a post on Twitter to welcoming the young Luke actor into the Skywalker family. The inclusion of Maul would also contradict some of the events seen in Star Wars Rebels, resulting in the story being rewritten to include Christensen's Vader as the antagonist. One of the major ideas scrapped was Obi-Wan protecting Luke from Darth Maul, as The Mandalorian producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni feared the story was too similar to Din Djarin's. As the May 25 premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi approaches, more details about the series have emerged, including the fact that the scripts had to undergo massive rewrites.
